The Sacraments of Initiation are: Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. For those children who are old enough, each of these Sacraments and First Reconciliation are part of the process of maturing into an adult Catholic. Notre Dame offers a Religious Education Program that serves children from kindergarten though eighth grade.
*Children who are at least in second grade and who have had two years of Religious Education (either in a Relgious Ed. program or Catholic School) may receive First Eucharist. All students who are preparing for Eucharist will receive their First Reconciliation prior to Eucharist. First Eucharist is usually celebrated the first weekend of May each year.
*A young person may receive Confirmation if he or she is at least in eighth grade and has had two years of Religious Education (either in a Relgious Ed. Program or Catholic School). Confirmation is usually celebrated in late April or early May each year.
On Sunday, September 23, 2012 we accept registrations for Religious Education and classes begin. Classes meet on Sundays from 8:45 to 10:00 am. Children are then required to attend the 10:00 am Mass with their families.
Families may register at the parish office during regular office hours or on Sunday morning. A copy of a baptismal certificate for all new students is also required at registration (if the child was baptised anywhere else). Both old and new students must register at the beginning of each school year. All families must be registered parishioners.
Religious education classes are for children in grades K through eight, who attend public schools, and whose families are members of Notre Dame Parish or participate at Our Lady of Pompeii Shrine.
