The Parish with Heart in the Heart of the City

We are known as “The Parish With Heart in the Heart of the City!” What does that mean? It means that we are a Catholic Parish community with deep faith and concern for the larger city and world that surrounds us.

Notre Dame is a parish, founded in 1864, to continue the tradition of the Catholic Church sharing the Sacraments and Christian faith with the local community. We demonstrate our deep faith every week as we celebrate Catholic Mass with joy and reverence. We share the Holy Eucharist as well as the other Sacraments, devotions and forms of prayer. We have a deep devotion to Our Lady, Mary the Mother of God.

We are concerned about our community and the larger world around us as well. We are committed to serving those in our community through education, social support and cultural respect. We are committed to our larger community through our identity as a part of the history of Chicago, our work on service projects and evangelization.

As believers, we are called into being through our experience of the Paschal Mystery, the dying and rising of Christ. This dying and rising makes us who we are!

Protection of Children and Young People Minimize

The Archdiocese of Chicago has in place diocesan-wide policies and procedures that work to protect all of God's children and provide a safe environment where children and young people can learn, thrive, and grow.  They are organized to follow the commitments set out in the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

There are also certain compliance guidelines that all parishes are required to fulfill as guided by the Office for the Protection of Children and Youth of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
